SKINPEN + MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure used to encourage collagen production by leveraging the body’s natural healing response. It is a minimally invasive cosmetic technique involving the insertion of tiny needles into the upper layers of the skin to stimulate skin repair. We offer microneedling treatments for acne, stretch marks, surgical scars, vitiligo, and more.

Additionally, microneedling may be combined with topical serums, radiofrequency, and platelet-rich plasma. Our aesthetic doctor can assist you in navigating decisions regarding additional treatment options.

How does Microneedling work?

Microneedling works by encouraging your skin to produce more collagen. The pinpricks from the procedure cause slight injury to the skin, and the skin responds by generating new collagen-rich tissue. This newly formed skin tissue exhibits a more even tone and texture. It is typical for the skin to lose collagen due to aging but by stimulating the skin to generate new tissue, the additional collagen may contribute to making the skin firmer.

Benefits of microneedling can include:

-reducing the appearance of scars, including acne scars

-reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

-reducing enlarged pores

-reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation or dark spots

-smoothing uneven skin tone

-improving skin elasticity

-reducing the appearance of stretch marks

-reducing the appearance of scars

-promoting hair growth in people with alopecia

Microneedling vs. At-Home Dermal Rollers

Microneedling is a professional procedure performed in a GMC-licensed doctor’s office. In an attempt to save money, some people opt for home dermal rollers instead. Unlike professional microneedling, home rollers don’t puncture the skin in the same manner and can cause abrasion to the skin, potentially leading to damage.

While this might seem like a less painful option, you may not achieve the same results as with microneedling. The punctures made during professional microneedling are designed to induce skin rejuvenation. With a roller device, you may, at best, achieve brighter skin.

If you’re interested in more effective and long-term results, microneedling may be a better option than a store-bought roller device. You may still choose to try the latter version if you want less invasive (and more temporary) results.

Why we use SkinPen Microneedling?

SkinPen is distinguished as the inaugural FDA-cleared microneedling device, ensuring its safety through being the first globally approved microneedling device with both a C.E. mark and I.S.O. certification. By inducing controlled micro-injuries, SkinPen triggers the body’s natural wound healing process, minimizing cellular damage. This process effectively remodels scar tissue while preserving the overall structure of the skin. With only three non-invasive and cost-effective treatments spaced 30 days apart, you can enhance your appearance for up to six months after the final session – allowing you to confidently step out with improved results.

For the Best Outcome:

You will notice results after just one treatment, but for optimal results, we typically recommend a minimum of three treatments. Consider combining microneedling with PRP, similarly known as Vampire Facial or Dracula Skin Therapy, for even more enhanced results. It is highly recommended to complete a full treatment cycle for the best outcome and achieve smoother, glowing skin.

Downtime:

We generally advise a 24-hour downtime period, during which it’s advisable to avoid UV exposure and strenuous exercise. However, after 5-7 days, you can resume your regular skincare routine, including your normal activities.

During microneedling the treated tissues are the epidermis and the dermis, the top two layers of the skin. No nerves or major layers will be affected during the treatment as these reside in the deeper layers of the skin.

Like all cosmetic procedures, microneedling carries some risks. The most common side effect is minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure. You may also see redness for a few days.

The treatment is usually painless with the use of a topical numbing cream, which can be applied to the area prior to treatment for optimal patient comfort.

It is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 3-4 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals. For hair loss, it is recommended to have at least 4-6 treatments, in the initial phase.
